New York!

Are we related or something?

We are pretty excited to be in a state that at least touches the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore we made this pose.

Going to Canada! The Canadians gave us a cute bike underpass. Also, border security held the door for us as we entered the pedestrian border security. This doesn't seem that weird until we have to return through U.S. border control the following day.

What fun! And, what great folks you've met along the way.

I have relatives in Syracuse and Cicero, NY and the Nuns are in Queens and Islip if you head that way and need a place to stay. The sisters would very much appreciate your traveling and spirit as they are travelers of sorts themselves!

Call if you need: 603-269-4264.... Collect is OK. Mary

Entering the US is frequently an experience. Riding across the Niagara River qualifies. On the Canadian side, there are signs for bicyclists, including instructions to stop at the toll booth. Why? so they can personally tell you how to get across the bridge. Once on the bridge, no more signs for bicycles. there are large overheads for trucks and cars, and long lines as we get closer to the US immigration. Our map says to check at one of the booths for instructions on how to get into the US. So we ride up to ask where they would like us to go. Big mistake. We are accused of trying to jump the line. It should be obvious to us that if there are no signs for cyclists, then we should assume we are a car, and wait in the car lines. All this said with heavy sarcasm. Clearly not bike friendly. Anyway, we turned around, got in the back of the car line, and went through uneventfully with a much friendlier immigration officer.
